Migrating from Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 PC

Hello,

I configured my two OC32 boards when using a laptop running Windows 7.

I am in the process of replacing the laptop with a PC running Windows 10.

When I wired the pins of the OC32s originally, I saved a configuration file which is identified as an “OC32 Configuration DAT file” with a pathway from
C:/... /Program Files (x86)/ OC32 Config.

I am unable to locate this DAT file on the laptop. Is it hidden? Do I need it to be copied into the new PC?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Gary,

In general it is not very common to place user-data in Program FIles. Those directories are normally quite protected by the OS from changes. Better use a location that is intended for data, such as the Documents directory.
Yes, if you want your configuration to be read by OC32Config on your new PC. you'll have to copy it. Or store it somewhere both PC's have access to.

Best regards,
Leon

Hi Leon,

Thankyou once again for your prompt and informative reply. Windows 7 is not particularly user friendly and since you confirmed I would need to copy the file to the new PC, I did go away and after re-setting the laptop to show hidden files and folders, by performing a search of *.DAT on the C:\ drive, I eventually found the file hidden away in a "User \ App Data\ Local \ Virtual Store...." location!!.

Fortunately I have been able to copy the file successfully (to a documents folder) in the new PC and all appears to be well.

Kind Regards

Garry
