Dinamo and catenary connection

Switzerland

Hello dear DINAMO team,
this Dinamo/TM44/OC32 starter kit is really I am running it with my newly installed track Z trains all very new Märklin E-Locomotives. They run in analog mode and all on catenary line with the current taken by pantograph. I can also make blocks. The electric connection to the TM44 is easily done, since the catenary is defined as B-rail. Now I have a problem to to address by software the B-rail (catenary) for E-Locomotives and the B-rail (rail) for diesel locomotives on the same track? ‍✈️.
… any hint is appreciated

Hi Sandro,
Well, although technically it is possible, we effectively dropped the use of live catenary some 25 years ago.
A 2 rail block oriënted system by itself already allows you to controll all trains individually. By adding live catenary you mix a 2-rail and a 3-rail system. It adds nothing except complexity. I know no software that can handleiding this.

Dear Leon,
Many thanks for your quick reply. This service is great and very much appreciated,
Your answer is interesting and apparently a problem from the software iTrain). It is a bit sad because all the hardware and electronics in Dinamo is there and available.
I see now the following solutions to grow my gauge Z with Dinamo train control system:
1. run only E-Locomotives with catenary/pantographs electrically controlled by Dinamo and sell my diesel locomotives (my contribution reduce the fossil energy consumption ;0) )
2. modify all locomotives to DCC encoder control, this possible.
3. write my own software PlugIn for iTrain.

Going back to pure analog is not an option, the Dinamo train control system is so cool I don’t want to miss it anymore.
Thanks again to you and Christian from Bähnlishop for showing me this system.
… anyhow, unless you stop me I will continue to report on my success with Dinamo train control system

Hi Sandro,
I don't see why there is a problem.
You can run all loco's from track power only. Still you can control all loco's individually, wether they are digital or not. That's one of the benefits of Dinamo. Every Dinamo user does it that way. The catenary is just there for the visual effect. You don't use it for any power or control.

Dear Leon,
you are absolutely right, and there is no problem for me. I am very happy with the Dinamo Train Control System, which is great. I will definitely grow the use of this system. I am just sounding out what is all possible and I discovered that the Dinamo system can easily be used with E-locomotives on the catenary, which makes it out standing, additionally to all the other features which you and the brochures advertise. I can confirm all these advantages.
It is specially amazing how much better the Dinamo Train Control System can runs these tiny, little engines of the gauge Z (Spur Z, 1/220).
I still have to learn a lot and thank you for your support .
Kind regards Sandro
