Gerard,
maybe just use a separate (3,6V) battery pack and a switch? The truck has plenty of space. You can even use a plain 9V battery.

then you have to switch them using a transistor. And here is where my practical knowledge stops...
You will have to find a transistor that you can control with the output of the 1.1v decoder.

Hi Gerard,

Sounds like quite a lot of LEDs ;-)

If you have a power source of 2,4V you can drive yellow LEDs without a problem. If you connect the LEDs in parallel with series resistor you can switch them with e.g. a BSH103 mosfet. The BSH103 can drive 800mA. I would not stretch it to that limits, e.g use 400mA max. If you need more, just put a second BSH103 in parallel.

If you want to drive white LEDs from 2,4V you'll need a step-up converter. You can make a white LED driver with e.g. a TPS61070 and a few additional components. The TPS61070 can be switched on/off by a decoder (1.1) output.

If you have 3,6V you can drive/switch white LEDs in the same way as the yellow ones: with a BSH103

If you want I can make some diagrams for you after my holiday. Be aware that you'll have to do some SMD soldering.

It are just yellow LEDs, so 1 use a second 2,4v source.

I would be pleased with a diagram how to use the BSH103.

When I want to connect the 100 LEDs to and second 2,4v battery pack, I just connect the LEDs to the + of this second pack, and the GND to the GND of the decoder?

Hi Gerard,

Yes, the anodes (+) of the LEDs can be connected to the (+) of your second battery pack.
Note that the current flows from (+) of your secondary battery via the resistor - LEDs - BSH(d) - BSH(s) to the (-) of your secondary battery. The connection output - BSH(g) is to switch the FET and the connection GND - BSH(s) must be there for reference.
